A Letter To The Late Jason Arday

Image
Dear Jason, I am writing this with a heavy heart to update you on the fallout since your tragic passing on August 14. What happened to you was fundamentally not right—no one should be subjected to the kind of relentless, racially motivated public shaming and harassment campaign that you endured. The situation with Nathan Cofnas and his sympathizers continues to be a disturbing spectacle. After leading the charge on the plagiarism accusations that pressured your resignation from Cambridge , Cofnas faced his own consequences—he was fired from his junior research fellowship at Cambridge and subsequently faced a teaching ban at Ghent University . Unsurprisingly, his sympathizers and anti-DEI campaigners are rallying behind him; the US ambassador to Belgium even publicly criticized his teaching ban. Cofnas continues to play the victim, claiming people are trying to have him thrown in jail simply for expressing his "race realist" ideas. It makes me wonder—what exactly did yo...

Reflections !

The Solitary Burden of Vision The foundational realization of any ambitious endeavor is a sobering one: absolute autonomy is the default state of creation. No matter the verbal agreements, handshakes, or initial promises exchanged, you will ultimately be left to navigate the labyrinth of your own execution alone. Psychological research underscores this disparity of investment. Under the lens of the Self-Center Bias and fundamental attribution errors documented in social psychology, individuals are overwhelmingly consumed by their own cognitive landscapes, survival, and immediate priorities. They simply do not—and biologically cannot—care about your vision with the same fervent intensity that you do. Worse still, your innovation often triggers latent friction; disruptive ideas threaten the status quo, frequently meeting passive resistance or active skepticism simply because they introduce unpredictable variables into established environments. The Friction of Independence and the P...

A Wake-Up Call on Road Safety in Africa On December 29, 2025, the world of boxing and beyond was shaken by news of a horrific car crash in Nigeria involving former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua . The accident, which occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State , resulted in the deaths of two individuals close to Joshua and left the athlete himself with minor injuries. This incident not only highlights the personal loss suffered by Joshua and his team but also underscores a broader crisis: the pervasive issue of dangerous driving across Africa and other developing countries. In this blog, we'll delve into the details of the accident, the latest findings from investigations, and how it ties into systemic problems like disregarded speed limits and poor road safety enforcement.   Silence or politeness in the face of recklessness only perpetuates the problem.  Anthony Joshua, the British-Nigerian boxing superstar known for his dominance in the ring and his cha...

What Is Love ?

The story of Peller and Jarvis unfolds like a tragic reel gone viral. Habeeb Hamzat , better known as Peller, the 19-year-old Lagos sensation whose live streams blend comedy, chaos, and unfiltered youth, has become the unwitting protagonist in a narrative that's equal parts fairy tale and cautionary tale. His girlfriend, Jarvis—real name Fatima Abdullahi , the 20-year-old AI enthusiast and content creator whose sharp wit and ethereal vibe made her a social media darling—embodied the dream of digital romance. Together, they were the Gen Z power couple: collabs that racked up millions of views, inside jokes that felt like ours, and a love story scripted for the algorithm. But on December 14, 2025, that script flipped. What started as a lovers' quarrel escalated into a public meltdown, culminating in Peller's harrowing suicide attempt by crashing his newly acquired Mercedes-Benz SUV into a barrier on the Lekki-Epe Expressway . The incident, captured in a live stream that ...
